This project involved the conversion of an unfinished basement in an existing North Vancouver residence into a secondary suite. The design aimed to maximize the potential of the existing space while meeting municipal regulations for secondary dwelling units.
The intervention included the introduction of a new layout incorporating a kitchen, bathroom, bedrooms, and living area, as well as the integration of mechanical, electrical, and fire separation requirements to ensure compliance with current building codes.
Through careful planning and minimal structural intervention, the previously unused basement area was transformed into a functional and comfortable living space that enhances the usability of the home and provides flexible housing within the property.
